Balance is a problem all by itself, but did you know:
- Balance is a predictor of future brain health
- Balance predicts whether you will fall. Falling is a major cause of disability.
- We can improve our balance, which reduces our risk for falls.
So, we know that balance is the ability to not fall over, but Dizziness and Vertigo are terms that are more confusing.
The Mayo Clinic says: Dizziness describes everything from feeling faint or lightheaded to feeling weak or unsteady.
On the other hand “vertigo” involves your feeling that you or your surroundings are spinning or moving. So, Vertigo involves things appearing to spin. There is a very common cause and simple solution for vertigo, but more on that later.
Dizziness is one of the most common reasons adults visit their doctors — right up there with chest pain and fatigue.
Coming up later, I will tell you how to predict your future brain health with peanut butter, a chair, and a stopwatch. Seriously! And, I will give you respectable references for this stuff.
